Make Your Outdoor Barbecue Party A Huge Hit

By: Gregg Hall

A Barbecue party is an excellent way to gather your friends and family together. Outdoor parties allow for adults and children of all ages. They are easy to plan and fun to attend. If you would like your barbecue party to be a hit this year then start with invitations. Sending invitations is a good way to get people excited about an upcoming event. They will also ensure everyone knows you want and enjoy their company. Invitations help your friends and families rearrange schedules, and know whether to bring children or not. When you send out invitations you can specify your plans so others know what to expect. A simple way to do invitations is to make some with your children. You can use almost anything such as cardstock paper, construction paper, even foam paper. One idea for a simple invitation is to cut four circles from foam paper about 4 to 5 inches in diameter. Cut 2 circles from tan, one slightly larger from green, and one slightly larger still from brown. Cut a pickle shape from green, making it about 1" long. Lay the circles on top of one another; tan, brown, green, tan. Now staple the pickle shape across the top. Your invitation should flip open and look like a hamburger. Simply open and use a permanent pen to write information about your barbecue party inside. There are many themes and ideas for barbecue parties. So look online, or ask your friends for ideas and find what suits your taste. Remember to have fun; you don't want to get caught up in planning so much it becomes a chore! Some other things to keep in mind when planning a barbecue, first of all send the invitations out early. You want to give ample time and opportunity for your friends and family to plan for attendance or rearrange schedules if needed. Secondly, always specify on the invitation whether it is all ages or adults only. You don't want to encounter any confusion or hurt feelings later on. You can also specify if you plan to provide everything for the party or if you would like them to bring anything. A lot of barbecue parties are somewhat potluck. However clear that point in advance so no one feels left out or obligated. Keep in mind that some people may forget to bring something so have the main supplies handy. It is important to let others know on the invitation if it's okay to come without bringing anything. Having a respond by date on the invitation is a chance to chat with each person about what they plan to bring if anything. Sending invitations for your barbecue party will make planning a party that much smoother. Letting others know ahead of time is a way to give others a chance to attend, know what to bring, and build excitement.
