Grammy Awards (R) Viewing Party

Postet by Shar in category Socials

The music industries biggest night of the year is fast approaching.  The Grammy Awards (R) brings together musics top talent for a night of glitz, glamour and great music.  This is a perfect opportunity to bring family and friends together for a Grammy’s viewing party.
grammy
Invitations: Send guests CD invitations with a compilation of your favorite music.  Inside the CD cover place a ballot listing the major grammy’s categories and tell your guests to vote on who they think will win in each category and bring the ballot with them to the party.  Additionally, ask guests to dress like their favorite music artist for the party.

Favors: Purchase miniture gold statues (like the Grammy award) to give to guests as parting gifts.

Activities: Set up the Karaoke machine and having a singing competition throughout the awards.  Have guests sing along with the musical performances and give a prize for the best rendition.

Decor: The Grammy’s are more trendy than elegant so think color, shimmer and, for the lack of a better word, BLING.

Planaganza Gets an Update

Postet by Shar in category Updates

Planaganza has a new look!  It is still the same great site for all of your event and party planning needs but with a new home page.  We kept some things and added others.  Some new features include:

Site Overview Guide

Some of our site visitors did not realize that we offer electronic invitations and RSVP tracking tools on Planaganza, so we added a high level overview of what we offer on the site.

Upcoming Reasons to Plan a Party

We also added a section called “Upcoming Reasons to Plan a Party”.  In this section we will highlight various holidays, events and happenings for the weeks ahead and give you tips for planning.

Event Inspiration Page

Another fun part of our site that was getting lost among our offering was the inspiration page.  This feature allows users who plan to contract with an event planner (or who just want to share their party ideas with others) to create a page of inspiring photos and descriptions of what they would like to have at their event.  You can also send the page to friends and family and they can leave comments.

Planaganza Tour

We also added a short tour of Planaganza’s major features so users can see what they can do as a member of the site.

In addition to our new look we have also enhanced some of our features for an even easier planning experience!  I will be letting you know about these offerings in postings on this blog in the coming weeks.

MLK Day|Plan a Service Event

Postet by Shar in category Event Planning, Social Causes, Socials

Martin Luther King Jr. stood for equality, justice and service to all.  Although the state of the “dream” and how far we have come in realizing it can be called into question, the essence of MLK Day lies in its call to action within our communities. Here are 3 ways to organize your friends and family to make an impact in your community on MLK day.

  1. Plan a community breakfast at your church or a nearby community center and invite everyone from the neighborhood to come and discuss the impact that Dr. King has had on our community and where the dream is not being realized.  Bring audio snippets of Dr. King’s popular speeches to spark conversation and give guests a business card sized memento with “I have a dream” inscribed on one side and “My Dream Realized” inscribed on the other with three lines below it.  This space will be used for guests to write three things they will do throughout the year to realize the dream in their community.
  2. Invite friends and family over to your neighborhood park or playground area for a day of neighborhood cleanup.  Get everyone matching “Day of Service” T-shirts and recruit others along the way.  For kids, make a contest out of how many bags of trash they can collect.  Make sure you arm them with gloves and long pants to avoid injury.  You might also chose to purchase some a small tree to commemorate the event.  Plant it in the park and watch it grow in the spring.
  3. Team up with a community center, neighborhood initiative or local cause that has a service event planned for the day.  Help market the event by sending out invitations to your circle of friends inviting them to volunteer.  You can find great electronic invitations for MLK Day at Planaganza.com.

Whatever you plan to do for MLK Day remember the dream.  To refresh your memory and see other events happening for the day visit the MLK Day website.

Life Event: Planning to Buy a New Home

Postet by Shar in category Life Events, New Home

So you’ve decided to buy a new home!  Congratulations!  Buying a new home is exciting so why not involve your friends and family in the fun.

Before you put your existing home on the market, have your close family and friends over for a “Dream House” dinner party!  Ask your guests to bring in photos of their favorite kitchen’s, bathrooms, living rooms, and home exteriors.  After dinner, have your guests help you make an inspiration board for your new home combining elements from their photos and some of your own.  Use this creation as your guide when telling the realtor what you would like to see in your new home.  This will save both of you a ton of time when deciding what houses to visit.  Also, creating it will bring everyone together for one last get-together in your old digs.

You might also choose to put together an electronic inspiration page with photos from Flickr and our inspiration gallery at Planaganza.com.  You can then invite your family and friends to view it online and add their comments.
